Hello September! Embracing The Month With Fun Holidays and Traditions
As the summer slips away, the crispness of fall begins to creep in. September comes with promise of change and renewal. September is a month that bridges the warmth of summer and the coziness of fall making it the perfect time to start new traditions and celebrate holidays with family and friends. Keep reading for fun ways to make the most of September with holidays and a few fun celebrations for every day this month.
- Back-to-School Traditions
In sunny South Florida, school started in early August. Although school started in August, many families up north will return in September after Labor Day. For those families returning to school in September, this month means a new back-to-school tradition with your kids, such as taking a first-day-of-school picture, planning a special breakfast, or creating a back-to-school time capsule. It’s a fun way to make the transition exciting and memorable for everyone.
- Labor Day (First Monday of September)
Labor Day is more than just the unofficial ending of summer, it is a day to honor the hard work and achievements of American workers. Many people celebrate with barbecues, picnics and other outdoor activities with friends and family. This year, we hosted my parents for a backyard BBQ and watched a family movie together.
- Grandparents Day (First Sunday after Labor Day)
Grandparents Day is always celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day, this year, it falls on September 8th. This is a great day to set aside time to pour into grandparents expressing your appreciation for their guidance and their wisdom. Consider planning a family lunch, making cards or spending the day doing something the grandparents enjoy. If distance stands in the way of spending physical time, try facetiming or sending a thoughtful gift that can make the day memorable.
- First Day of Fall (Around September 22nd)
The autumnal equinox marks the official start of fall, and it’s a time to celebrate the changing seasons. You can welcome fall by decorating your home with fall colors and scents, going apple or pumpkin picking or on a nature walk collecting leaves along the way. This is also a great time to indulge in seasonal foods such as apple cider, pumpkin treats and seasonal soups.
- National Coffee Day (September 29th)
Coffee lovers get excited! National Coffee Day is the perfect time to indulge in your favorite cup of coffee. Whether you prefer hot, iced or blended, take a minute to savor the flavors and aromas. Celebrate by trying a new coffee shop or trying a new seasonal flavor you have never had before.
Below, you will find fun days to celebrate for each day this month.
