Hello Fall: A Season of Warmth and New Beginnings

Growing up in Michigan, there was always something so special about the beginning of fall. When September hit, the air was crisp, the leaves began to change colors and the refreshing scent of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg began to fill our homes with the promise that the holidays were soon upon us.

Fall in Michigan wasn’t just a season—it was an experience. It was about the first sip of apple cider and warm apple donuts from the Franklin Cider Mill, the sound of the wind in the trees, and the feeling of being wrapped in a cozy blanket as the outside world turned golden. Those memories, simple and sweet, are a reminder that fall is about finding comfort in the slowing down, the changing seasons and the warmth of family traditions.

For me, fall has always been about getting together around the table with loved ones and sharing meals that bring warmth to the soul. It’s the season of hearty soups, freshly baked bread, and family-favorite pies that remind us of the traditions we hold close to our heart.

But what I love most about this time of year is how food seems to unite us even more. There’s a sense of community that comes with cooking during the fall—whether it’s sharing a new recipe, baking something to give to a neighbor or friend, or learning about fall dishes from different cultures. Every meal is an opportunity to connect, learn, and enjoy the simple joy that food brings.

This fall, I’m excited to try a few new seasonal recipes and continue sharing my love for cooking with all of you. Whether you’re making your favorite sweet potato pie or discovering a new fall dish from another part of the world, I hope you find joy in the warmth and togetherness this season brings.
